IDA & Municipal Development Incentives

The IDA & Municipal Development Incentives Practice Group offers tested expertise, legal interpretation and practical knowledge in Industrial Development Agency financings, tax credit financings, economic incentives, legislative law and the use of tax-exempt and taxable bond proceeds by conduit and direct issuers of debt. An Industrial Development Agency is a public benefit corporation formed by an act of the New York State Legislature.

An IDA transaction allows a project to be built with real property tax abatements, sales and use tax exemptions, mortgage recording tax exemptions and, in certain circumstances, with the proceeds of tax-exempt bonds. RMF has successfully represented real estate developers, multinational firms, not-for-profit entities, schools and manufacturers in transactions with IDA and similar economic benefit agencies throughout the U.S. Our attorneys work closely with other critical disciplines within the firm to meet the needs of our clients in an efficient and productive manner.

We are regularly consulted by New York State municipalities on issues of legislative interpretation and members of our practice group are featured speakers at IDA seminars throughout the Northeast.
