Ruskin Moscou Faltischek Names Alexander G. Bateman, Jr. And Jay B. Silverman Co-chairs of Health Law Department

Uniondale, Long Island, New York, May 1, 2007 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. announced today that partners Alexander Bateman and Jay Silverman have assumed chairmanship of the Health Law Transactional & Regulatory Department. Bateman and Silverman succeed senior partner Gregg Naclerio, who will continue to apply his considerable experience to expanding and servicing the department’s roster of clients, increasing his community involvement and mentoring attorneys at the firm.

“We’re pleased and honored to accept this appointment,” said Bateman and Silverman in a joint statement. “Together, we intend to build on the stewardship of our predecessors, Gregg Naclerio and Mel Ruskin, who worked tirelessly to establish and grow this dynamic practice.”

The appointments are part of an ongoing succession planning strategy at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek.  “This transition will give our talented up-and-coming partners the chance to move through the ranks and serve as department chairs,” noted Naclerio. “Alex and Jay are eminently qualified to take on this new role and I wish them every success.”

Bateman has considerable experience with health law issues. In addition to his new position as co-chair of the Health Law Department, Bateman serves as co-chair of the White Collar Crime & Investigations Group, where he represents health care professionals and companies in federal and state criminal and regulatory matters, and professional disciplinary proceedings. On the regulatory side, he is active in developing corporate compliance programs and in the defense of insurance fraud and abuse cases. Bateman previously served as a trial attorney with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, where he investigated and prosecuted felony street crimes, narcotics, organized crime, sex crimes and political corruption.

Silverman currently chairs the firm’s Healthcare Professionals Practice Group, which counsels physician practices on issues ranging from contractual and managed care issues to professional discipline and hospital privilege matters. He also represents healthcare-related businesses and entrepreneurs concerning the development and implementation of their corporate structures. He serves as General Counsel to the Suffolk County Medical Society and the Suffolk Academy of Medicine, and was formerly the Assistant General Counsel to the Medical Society of the State of New York.
