Ruskin Moscou Faltischek’s Founding Partner Michael L. Faltischek Named to Long Island Press ‘Powerlist’ for 2021

Uniondale, NY – May 3, 2021 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. is pleased that Founding Partner Michael L. Faltischek has been recognized by Long Island Press as one Long Island’s Top 100 Influential People. The publication’s annual “PowerList,” determined by Long Island Press writers and editors, recognizes prominent leaders in business, politics, academia, not-for-profit advocacy, law enforcement, and arts and entertainment for their continued commitment, impact and influence on Long Island over the past year. The virtual event will air on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 7pm.

Mr. Faltischek is a founding partner at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C., and has played a key role in the success and growth of the firm since graduating from law school at the top of his class. He served as Managing Partner from 1982 until 2006, leading the firm from its roots as a small local firm to its current prominence as a major regional business law firm. Mr. Faltischek’s accomplishments have been recognized by Long Island Business News in its annual Who’s Who in Law as one of the leading members of the legal profession and was a recipient of its Leadership in Law Award. Recently, he was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 LIBN CEO Awards dinner. In 2017, he was recognized as a King of Long Island by the Star Network.

Mr. Faltischek has and continues to advise entrepreneurs and business enterprises in corporate finance, governance, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning and international business transactions. He has been a frequent lecturer for the New York State Bar Association in various areas of corporate and business law, including forming and advising businesses, limited liability companies and law firm management. In recognition of his contributions, Mr. Faltischek received the Master of Innovation Award from Innovate Long Island in 2018.

From 1996-2001 Mr. Faltischek served as a Trustee of the Long Island Power Authority, playing a role in the ultimate acquisition of LILCO as a member of its Finance and Economic Development Committees. In 2007, he was a founding member of the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center, an association in which utilities and allied industry leaders address the future needs of energy distribution. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of its Advisory Board. The Center fosters commercialization of promising technologies. He has also served on the Advisory Board of The Institute for Energy Law, an international organization comprised of the world’s leading energy companies and attorneys. As counsel for Caithness Energy, Mr. Faltischek was instrumental in the development of the Caithness Energy Center, the first base load plant to be built on Long Island in nearly 50 years and now the workhorse of power generation on Long Island.

Mr. Faltischek is a founding member and former Chair of the Long Island Angel Network, formed to provide a forum for inventors, entrepreneurs and investors to examine investment opportunities in new technologies, products or business models. The Network has been successful in providing, through its members, equity to several start-up ventures. As a member of illuminado Partners, LLC, a business advisory group providing support to early stage and growth oriented companies, he serves on the advisory boards of numerous companies. He is a founding shareholder of Gold Coast Bank, serving on its Advisory Board, as well as several other Long Island startup ventures.

A long-time leader in community activities, Mr. Faltischek has served on the Board of Directors of the Long Island Association, the region’s largest business and civic group, since 2001. He has served as a Vice Chairman and, currently, Treasurer and Chairman of its Audit Committee, as well as several special committees formed to address energy issues on Long Island. He is a director of the Sunrise Association, which provides, at no charge, summer day camp and year-round programs for children with cancer and their siblings. He has been a Trustee of Temple B’nai Sholom since the 1980s, serving as its President and later Chairman of its Board. From 1995-2004, Mr. Faltischek served as Chairman of the Long Island Board of the Anti-Defamation League, and received its Torch of Liberty Award in 1992. Mr. Faltischek has also served on the executive board of the Theodore Roosevelt Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Dean’s executive council of the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University, the board of Old Westbury Gardens Foundation, as Chair of the Rockville Centre UJA and as a director of Glen Head Country Club, where he served as Chairman of its law committee for many years.
