Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. Announces the Promotion of Lois Bladykas, John Chillemi and David Durso to Partner

Uniondale, NY – January 3, 2023 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C., announces the promotion of Lois Bladykas, John D. Chillemi and David F. Durso to Partner.

Ms. Bladykas is a member of the firm’s Trusts & Estates Department and Estate, Trust and Fiduciary Litigation Practice Group. Ms. Bladykas’ practice focuses on estate, trust and fiduciary litigation, including all manner of Surrogate’s Court proceedings such as probate contests, accounting proceedings, discovery and turnover proceedings, will and trust construction proceedings, and other complex disputes between beneficiaries and fiduciaries. In addition, Ms. Bladykas has experience representing clients in SCPA Article 17 and 17-A guardianship proceedings, and is qualified to serve as Guardian ad Litem in Surrogate’s Court. Ms. Bladykas also has significant experience in estate administration, including handling probate and administration proceedings, preparing fiduciary accountings, and preparing federal and New York State estate tax returns. Ms. Bladykas is an active member of the New York State Bar Association Trusts and Estates Law Section, where she serves as Co-Chair of the Legislation & Government Relations Committee, and is a past Co-Chair of the Suffolk County Bar Association Surrogate’s Court Committee. Ms. Bladykas is a member of the New York State Bar Association Membership Committee, Nassau County Bar Association Surrogate’s Court Committee, and Suffolk County Estate Planning Council. Ms. Bladykas has written and co-written many articles for the New York Law Journal and other publications concerning trusts and estates issues, is an update editor of the LexisNexis New York Practice Guide on Probate and Estate Administration, and was a recipient of the 2019 Long Island Business News, Leadership in Law Award in the Associate category.

Mr. Chillemi is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Department, Land Use and Environment Practice Group and IDA & Municipal Development Incentives Practice Group. Mr. Chillemi’s practice focuses on commercial real estate transactions, including the acquisition, disposition, leasing and financing of commercial properties throughout the United States. Specifically, Mr. Chillemi has experience handling “zero net bond leasing” transactions and 1031 Tax-Deferred Exchange transactions. He also represents borrowers and lenders with respect to construction and permanent financing. Mr. Chillemi has experience with land use and zoning transactions, including representation of land developers of various projects ranging from change of zone petitions, variances, municipal hearings and IDA financing. Mr. Chillemi is an active board member of Vision Long Island, whose mission is to promote livable, economically sustainable and environmentally responsible growth on Long Island through Smart Growth. Additionally, Mr. Chillemi is a proud member of the Long Island Association’s Young Professionals Committee, which is a diverse group designated by the members of the LIA Board of Directors as the next generation of business leaders.

Mr. Durso is a member of the firm’s Health Law and Corporate & Securities Departments, as well as the firm’s White Collar Crime and Investigations, and Cybersecurity and Data Privacy practice groups. Mr. Durso regularly counsels business owners, health care professionals, and public and privately held companies in a wide variety of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, government investigations, prosecutions and administrative proceedings.  Mr. Durso also represents health care professionals in matters involving the Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC), Office of the Inspector General (OIG), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).  Prior to joining Ruskin Moscou Faltischek P.C., Mr. Durso was an Assistant District Attorney with the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Durso is a member of the Board of Directors of Contractors for Kids. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, where he is a member of the Hospital and Health Law Committee. Mr. Durso is also a member of the New York State Bar Association, where he is a member of the Health Law Section and serves on the Young Health Lawyers Committee.
