RMF Attorney John D. Chillemi Moderated a Panel at Vision Long Islands 19th Annual Smart Growth Summit

Uniondale, Long Island, N.Y. December 15, 2020 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C., announced today Associate, John D. Chillemi moderated a panel titled “Residential Forecast: NYC Exodus, Demand Rising, What’s Next” at Vision Long Island’s 19th Annual 2020 Smart Growth Summit on December 4, 2020.

Vision Long Island promotes more livable, economically sustainable, and environmentally responsible growth on Long Island through Smart Growth which focuses on infill, re-development, and open space preservation and supports mixed-use, mixed-income communities that are convenient, attractive, pedestrian-friendly, and that make affordable housing and public transportation desirable and realistic.

The panel, which consisted of renowned Long Island real estate developers and brokers, discussed the affect the Coronavirus pandemic has had on the Long Island real estate market driven in part by city residents who are now able to work remotely, the impact this exodus will have on Long Island and whether these changes will continue into the future. With an emphasis on trying to resolve Long Island’s well-known housing crisis, the panel also discussed how future redevelopment is adapting to fulfill the increasing demand for suburban living.

Mr. Chillemi is a member of Ruskin Moscou Faltischek’s Real Estate Department, Land Use and Environment Practice Group and IDA & Municipal Development Incentives Practice Group. Mr. Chillemi’s practice focuses on commercial real estate transactions, including the acquisition, disposition, leasing and financing of commercial properties throughout the United States.  Specifically, has experience handling “zero net bond leasing” transactions and 1031 Tax-Deferred Exchange transactions. He also represents borrowers and lenders with respect to construction and permanent financing.

In addition to his real estate work, Mr. Chillemi has experience with land use and zoning transactions, including representation of land developers of various projects ranging from change of zone petitions, variances, municipal hearings and IDA financing. Mr. Chillemi is board member of Vision Long Island and member of the Long Island Association’s Young Professionals Committee.
