Uniondale, NY – September 29, 2026 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. is pleased to announce that Hon. Elizabeth H. Emerson, Of Counsel and a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department, has been appointed to the Suffolk County Bar Association’s (SCBA) Judicial Screening Committee and the Commercial Division Committee.
The SCBA’s Judicial Screening Committee plays an important role in evaluating candidates for judicial office in Suffolk County. The committee reviews candidates’ qualifications, experience, integrity, and fitness for judicial service, helping to ensure that individuals considered for the bench meet the high standards expected of the judiciary.
The SCBA’s Commercial Division Committee focuses on issues affecting commercial litigation and the practice of law in the Commercial Division. The committee works to monitor developments affecting the Commercial Division, engage with judges and practitioners, and promote education and communication regarding commercial litigation and court procedures.

Hon. Elizabeth H. Emerson serves as Of Counsel at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C., where she is a member of the Commercial Litigation Department and Fine Art Practice Group. She was elected to the New York State Supreme Court in 1996 and served for 28 years, including four years as an Associate Justice of the Appellate Term of the Appellate Division, Second Department.
In 2002, Hon. Emerson helped establish the Suffolk County Commercial Division, where she presided for 21 years, becoming one of New York State’s longest-serving Commercial Division justices. During her tenure, she handled complex commercial disputes and contributed to the development of policies and procedures for the Commercial Division through her work with the Commercial Division Advisory Council and the Chief Judge’s Task Force on Commercial Litigation in the 21st Century.
Prior to joining the bench, Hon. Emerson was a partner at a multinational law firm, where she focused on transactional law and represented financial institutions and Fortune 100 companies in complex domestic and cross-border transactions.
Hon. Emerson remains active in the legal community. She co-chairs the Suffolk County Bar Association’s Commercial Division Committee and has served in leadership roles with the New York State Bar Association and American Bar Association. She is also a member of the Commercial Division Advisory Council and the American College of Business Court Judges. A frequent lecturer on complex litigation, she has also authored a chapter on secured transactions in Commercial Litigation in New York State Courts.
