RMF Attorney David F. Durso Presents Health Care Law to the Mather-St Charles Medical Staff

Uniondale, New York, April 30, 2019 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. announced today that Associate, David F. Durso, presented to the Mather-St Charles Medical Staff on Curbside Consultations in the Digital Age: HIPAA and Other Pitfalls on April 15, 2019.

The presentation addressed various issues surrounding so-called curbside consultations. David discussed the potential employment, licensing and malpractice consequences associated with these consultations. The presentation also highlighted HIPAA considerations with respect to curbside consultations. David also addressed the issues of treating family member sand viewing a family member’s patient record when they are not a patient.

David is a member of the Health Law Department and the White Collar Crime and Investigations and Cybersecurity Practice Groups.  He represents health care professionals in disciplinary matters involving the Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC) and the Office of Professional Discipline (OPD). He also represents health care professionals and companies in medical staff proceedings, audits, claw-backs, and demands for repayment made by Medicare, Medicaid, and private health insurers. As part of his White Collar practice, David represents individuals and companies in investigations by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), as well as in prosecutions by federal, state, and local prosecutors’ offices.
