Partner Michael L. Faltischek Elected to Executive Committee of the Long Island Association

Uniondale, Long Island, New York, May 31, 2011 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. announced today that senior partner Michael L. Faltischek has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Long Island Association (LIA) by its Board of Directors.  Faltischek has served as a member of the Board of Directors for more than ten years and presently serves on its Audit Committee, is Vice Chair of the Energy Committee and is a board member of the LIA’s Health Alliance.  He will continue in these capacities as well as in his new role as an executive committee member, assisting with the organization’s strategic direction.

The LIA, considered the voice of Long Island and the largest such business organization on Long Island, was created over 80 years ago to bring together business, labor, education, government, not-for-profits, chambers of commerce and civic organizations.

Faltischek, a resident of Rockville Centre, is a member of the Corporate and Securities Department at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek.  He advises entrepreneurs and business enterprises in corporate finance, governance, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning and international business transactions.

Faltischek founded and is chair of the law firm’s Energy Practice Group, providing diverse legal services that focus on the unique needs of the energy industry and its ongoing efforts to satisfy the energy needs of the regional marketplace.  In 2009, Faltischek joined the Advisory Board of The Institute for Energy Law, an international organization comprised of the world’s leading energy companies and attorneys.  In 2007, Faltischek helped found the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center, a hub of energy-related research at Stony Brook University, Brookhaven National Laboratory and other institutions.  He is General Counsel to the Center and serves as Vice Chairman of its Advisory Board.

He is a founding member and Chairman of the Long Island Angel Network, a forum for  entrepreneurs, investors and businesses to examine investment opportunities in new technologies or business models.  The network has been successful in providing, through its members, equity interests in several startup ventures.

Faltischek has been a frequent lecturer for the New York State Bar Association in various areas of corporate and business law, including Forming and Advising Businesses, Limited Liability Companies and Law Firm Management.  He has also led programs in issues related to Corporate Governance.  He was instrumental in the formation of the firm’s Corporate Governance Practice Group which addresses the needs of corporate leaders in light of recent far-reaching corporate reforms.  Long Island Business News, in its annual “Who’s Who in Law,” has frequently recognized Faltischek as one of the leading members of the legal profession.
