Dual Board Appointments for Ruskin Moscou Faltischek Founding Partner Melvyn B. Ruskin, ESQ.

Uniondale, Long Island, New York, November 16, 2007 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. announced today that founding partner Melvyn B. Ruskin has recently been honored with two prestigious board appointments: Ruskin was recently elected to the position of Vice President of the Board of the Long Island Philharmonic, which was founded in 1979 by singer Harry Chapin in collaboration with Maestro Christopher Keene and several area business leaders.

In addition, Ruskin was re-appointed to a three-year term to the Board of the New York State Health Foundation, whose mission is threefold: expand health insurance coverage to State residents who cannot afford their own coverage or whose coverage is inadequate; increase access to high-quality health care services; and strengthen public and community health by educating New Yorkers about health care issues and empowering communities to address them. Ruskin was re-appointed to this position by New York Senator Joseph L. Bruno.

“These board positions will give me the opportunity to work with both Long Island and New York State business and professional leaders to make a real difference in two diverse but important areas: the arts and health care reform. I am deeply honored to have been elected to these positions.”

Ruskin, a senior member of the firm’s Health Law Department,  is no stranger to cultural and philanthropic work. Throughout his career, he has made community service a priority, having served on countless boards, committees and for myriad organizations. Ruskin’s commitment is consistent with the values of Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, which was recently honored by Long Island Magazine as its 2007 MVP in Professional Services. The criteria for the award are partially based on the demonstration of extraordinary commitment to community service.
