Matthew Finegan is an Associate at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C., where he is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department. He focuses his practice on complex commercial and civil litigation matters.
Prior to joining RMF, Matthew was an associate at a Manhattan-based law firm, where he defended general liability and labor law claims and represented a broad range of clients, including property owners, contractors, and insurers. His experience spans all phases of litigation, including pre-litigation investigations, conducting and defending depositions, dispositive motion practice, and trial preparation. He has also served as second-chair trial counsel in matters involving catastrophic injuries.
Matthew earned his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law, where he served on the executive board of the Hugh L. Carey Dispute Resolution Society and was a member of the New York International Law Review. While at St. John’s, he received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Drafting New York State Practice and served as a teaching assistant for the first-year Lawyering seminar. He also worked part-time at a full-service litigation firm, gaining experience in dispositive motion practice and case management.
Prior to attending St. John’s, Matthew earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Cortland, where he was a member of the SUNY Cortland Moot Court Society and interned for the Honorable Andrew A. Crecca, the District Administrative Judge of Suffolk County, during his final semester.
Matthew is admitted to practice in the State of New York.
