Uniondale, NY – March 10, 2026 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. is pleased to welcome Joel Cohen as Of Counsel in the firm’s White Collar Crime & Investigations Practice Group.

Mr. Cohen has extensive experience in both public service and private practice. Mr. Cohen’s career began in public service as a prosecutor, serving as Special Assistant Attorney General in the New York State Prosecutor’s Office. Mr. Cohen subsequently served as Special Attorney and Assistant Attorney in Charge with the Organized Crime & Racketeering Section of the U.S. Department of Justice in the Eastern District of New York, where Mr. Cohen handled high-profile corruption and organized crime prosecutions.

In 1985, Mr. Cohen moved to private practice at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, representing individuals and corporations in complex federal and state investigations and prosecutions. Mr. Cohen has also conducted corporate internal investigations and represented attorneys in disciplinary proceedings. Most recently, Mr. Cohen served as senior counsel at Petrillo Klein & Boxer.

Mr. Cohen taught “Professional Responsibility” at Brooklyn Law School and Fordham Law School for a total of twelve years. Mr. Cohen then began teaching “How Judges Decide” at Fordham Law School and has also been teaching the course at Cardozo Law School for the past twelve years. Mr. Cohen is the author of seven books on law, ethics, and Biblical fiction, including Blindfolds Off: Judges On How They Decide and Broken Scales: Reflections on Injustice, and has published approximately 800 articles, including a bimonthly column in the New York Law Journal.

From 2010 to 2018, Mr. Cohen served on the New York Commission on Judicial Conduct. Mr. Cohen earned his J.D. and LL.M. from New York University School of Law and is admitted to practice in New York State, federal courts in New York, and the United States Supreme Court.
