Uniondale, Long Island, New York, December 7, 2009 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek announced today that Co-Managing Partner Douglas A. Cooper has been named to the transition team of Westchester County Executive-elect Rob Astorino (R-I). Mr. Cooper will serve on Mr. Astorino’s Department of Public Works Committee. Mr. Cooper, a resident of Harrison, New York and a lifelong resident of Westchester County, is a partner at the law firm Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. He joined the firm in 1998, making the transition from a successful private practice in Westchester. Mr. Cooper is a senior member of the firm’s prominent Litigation Department and Construction Practice Group. He served as counsel to the largest group of privately owned bus companies in New York City until their sale to the City in 2005.
Mr. Cooper, a longstanding civic leader, has served for many years as a trustee of the New Rochelle Public Library. He served for 10 years as the president of the Thomas Paine National Historical Society, headquartered in New Rochelle. He also currently serves as a trustee of the Long Island Chapter of the Nature Conservancy. Mr. Cooper has also lectured extensively on the subject of crisis management.
