Ruskin Moscou Faltischek Appoints Kimberly Malerba, Esq. As Chair of Employment Law Practice Group

Uniondale, New York, May 2, 2013 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C., has announced the appointment of Kimberly Malerba, Esq., as Chair of the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group.

Kimberly Malerba currently serves Of Counsel to Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. and also chairs the Firm’s Digital Media Practice Group.  A resident of Bellmore, N.Y., Ms. Malerba joined the firm in 2003 as an associate in the Litigation Department and began specializing in employment law and intellectual property shortly thereafter. With expertise in all matters involving the employer-employee relationship, Ms. Malerba counsels a wide spectrum of employers ranging from small business owners to large corporations, CEOs, CFOs, and human resource professionals. With wage and hour compliance issues and investigations; employment discrimination and harassment policy development, prevention and litigation; and independent contractor analysis as prevalent areas of focus, social media and Internet-related employment issues have been the natural outgrowth of the two practice groups which she chairs.   In that capacity, Ms. Malerba recently was the featured speaker at a well attended CLE/CPE seminar entitled “Your Digital Assets: Are you Really Protected?”  Her program successfully and practically merged two disciplines, employment law and digital media, addressing issues such as employers’ ability to protect and control their social media and digital media assets.  Ms. Malerba offers guidance to employers relating to their employees’ social media activities and compliance with the National Labor Relations Act.  As a frequent lecturer, Ms. Malerba has participated in various continuing education programs offering CLE, CPE and HRCI credit.  In addition to social media-related issues, these programs educate professional audiences on a wide variety of employment law topics, ranging from wage and hour issues, to reductions in force, and issues arising under the ADA and Family and Medical Leave Act.   Ms. Malerba also routinely counsels employers on best practices concerning management of disability accommodation and leave related issues, reductions in force, restrictive covenants, hiring and separations from employment.

Mark Mulholland, Managing Partner, welcomed Ms. Malerba to her new appointment: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Kim as Chair of the Employment Law Practice Group and welcome her into this new capacity. Her expertise in employment law, along with her knowledge of digital media, is invaluable to our clients. I have the utmost confidence that she will continue to provide the firm’s clients with the best practical legal counsel available.”

Ms. Malerba is a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association and was recently honored by Long Island Business News as one of the ’40 Under 40′ Long Islanders for her professional achievement and community service.
