Ruskin Moscou Faltischek and Hub International Team Up for Cybersecurity Seminar

Uniondale, Long Island, N.Y. June 23, 2015 – John J. Cooney, Esq., Of Counsel and Chair of the firm’s Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Practice Group, and his colleague Douglas Nadjari, Partner at the firm, joined leading global insurance brokerage HUB International for a cybersecurity seminar entitled “Data Security for the Healthcare Industry.”   The panel for this seminar consisted of John Cooney, Chair, Cybersecurity and Data Privacy, Ruskin Moscou Faltischek; John Farley, Vice President, Cyber Risk Management Services, HUB International; Anthony Dagostino, Vice President, ACE Group Professional Risk Division; Katherine Heaviside, President, Epoch 5 Public Relations and Douglas Nadjari, Partner, Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, served as moderator.

The two- hour program was held on June 10, 2015 at the office of Ruskin Moscou Faltischek to a large crowd and covered recent cyber-attacks and breaches, the legal and regulatory landscape, the coming wave of new regulations as well as how best to protect a business with cyber liability insurance.  Although it was offered to health care entities and practitioners, many other organizations attended given the proliferation of cyber-attacks. “The program and the panelists were very captivating, and educational.  The information they provided was very helpful,” stated one attendee.  Mr. Cooney commented that the “involvement of HUB International and Epoch 5 was instrumental.  It allowed us to present a thorough and integrated set of best practices for an organization to employ.”

John J. Cooney serves Of Counsel to Ruskin Moscou Faltischek where he is chair of the Firm’s Cybersecurity and Data Privacy practice group.  Mr. Cooney is a former United States Marine Corps officer and combat veteran of the Persian Gulf War. After serving his country, he was a software engineer on Wall Street and at Fortune 500 companies. His technical background proves particularly useful in the cybersecurity and data privacy arena, as well as in complex fraud investigations and litigation.

Douglas M. Nadjari is a member of the firm’s Litigation, Health Law Regulatory, Cybersecurity and White-Collar Crime & Investigations Practice Groups.
