RMF Successfully Guides Peconic Growers LLC Through Complex State Licensing Process

Uniondale, N.Y., June 2, 2022, On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, Riverhead-based Peconic Growers LLC was awarded one of the few and highly sought-after adult-use conditional cannabis licenses by the Cannabis Control Board of the state of New York. To date, the state has issued only 110 licenses to cultivators across the state. The Peconic Grower’s team is led by Icilio “Bill” Bianchi. Mr. Bianchi, 92, a lifelong resident of Suffolk County and former New York State Assemblyman, and his team, have spent over five decades growing wholesale orchids on the east end of Long Island and more recently, began cultivating hemp at his greenhouse in Riverhead.

“Our family started in the green house business in 1928 and I am especially proud that we will be part of this new challenge and business opportunity,” said Icilio “Bill” Bianchi, Peconic Growers LLC.

Given the prerequisites set forth by the state, few candidates qualify for, and even fewer have received approval to cultivate cannabis from the state. Conditional cultivators have the ability to begin growing cannabis for adult-use immediately, with the hopes of ensuring an adequate supply of cannabis when the state’s adult-use market launches sometime at the end of this year or in early 2023.

“We are thrilled for Peconic Growers LLC and their entrance into this newly legalized marketplace. The licensing process is very challenging and we are proud to help Peconic Growers LLC be able to be one of the early participants in this new program,” said Elizabeth Kase and Arthur “Jerry” Kremer, co-chair of Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C.’s Cannabis Law Practice Group.
