RMF Foundation Donates To Island Harvest’s Katrina Relief Fund

Uniondale, Long Island, New York, October 3, 2005 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. announced today that, through the RMF Foundation, it has donated the proceeds of its Katrina Disaster Relief Fund to Long Island-based Island Harvest, whose mission is to reduce food waste and end hunger. Shortly after the scope of the hurricane’s destruction became apparent, Island Harvest established a Katrina Fund to meet the challenge of providing food, grocery products and financial support to families struggling to come to terms with the hurricane’s effect.

Employees of Ruskin Moscou Faltischek made donations to the firm’s relief fund over a two-week period; in order for donations to have the greatest possible impact, the RMF Foundation pledged an “employee match,” in which it contributed an amount equal to total employee contributions.

“It was always a key goal to get assistance into the region as quickly as possible, and to try to channel the greatest amount directly to the victims,” noted Co-Managing Partner Douglas A. Cooper. “We believe we have reached that goal working with Island Harvest, which is noted for its organizational efficiency.”

Island Harvest pledges that 100% of all contributions to the Katrina Fund will go directly to hurricane relief efforts. To facilitate the provision of local assistance in the Gulf Coast region, Island Harvest has partnered with America’s Second Harvest, the nation’s largest hunger relief organization, for distribution of food and donations.

The RMF Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) organization, was established to support a wide range of charitable endeavors. To date, the Foundation has contributed to scores of charitable and philanthropic organizations throughout the country.
