RMF Attorneys Lois Bladykas and Kera Reed Elected to Positions at the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association

Uniondale, NY – May 6, 2022 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C., announced today that Lois Bladykas and Kera Reed, who are Of Counsel, at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C., have been elected to positions at the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association. Ms. Bladykas has been appointed as a Director to serve a three-year term, and Ms. Reed has been appointed as a Suffolk County Delegate to the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (WABSNY), and continues her three-year term as a Director.

The Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association’s mission is to promote the advancement of the status of women in society and of women in the legal profession; the fair and equal administration of justice; and to act as a unified voice for its members with respect to issues of statewide, national and international significance to women generally and to women attorneys in particular.

Ms. Bladykas is a member of the firm’s Trusts and Estates Department and Estate, Trust and Fiduciary Litigation Practice Group. Ms. Bladykas’s practice focuses on estate and trust litigation, probate, estate administration, and estate planning. This includes all manner of Surrogate’s Court proceedings including probate contests, accounting proceedings, discovery proceedings, and other complex disputes between beneficiaries and fiduciaries. Ms. Bladykas represents fiduciaries and beneficiaries in Surrogate’s Courts as well as trial and appellate courts throughout the New York metropolitan area. Ms. Bladykas is an active member of the New York State Bar Association Trusts and Estates Law Section, where she serves as Co-Chair of the Legislation & Government Relations Committee. She is also a Co-Chair of the Suffolk County Bar Association Surrogate’s Court Committee; and a member of the New York State Bar Association Membership Committee, Nassau County Bar Association Surrogate’s Court Committee, and Suffolk County Estate Planning Council. Ms. Bladykas has written and co-written many articles for the New York Law Journal and other publications concerning trusts and estates issues, is an update editor of the LexisNexis New York Practice Guide on Probate ad Estate Administration, and was a recipient of the 2019 Long Island Business News, Leadership in Law Award in the Associate category.

Ms. Reed is a member of the firm’s Trusts and Estates Department and the Estate, Trust and Fiduciary Litigation practice group. Her practice includes all Surrogate’s Court proceedings to appoint an Executor or Administrator of an estate, SCPA Article 17 and 17-A guardianship proceedings, preparation and litigation of fiduciary accountings, and preparation of New York State and Federal estate tax returns. Ms. Reed is also qualified to serve as Guardian ad Litem in Surrogates’ Court proceedings. In addition to her Trust and Estate practice, Ms. Reed is certified to serve as counsel and court evaluator in Supreme Court Guardianship matters. She is a Vice-Chair of the New York State Bar Association Trusts and Estates Section’s Surrogate’s Court Committee and is the past Co-Chair of the Surrogate’s Court Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association. Ms. Reed is also on the New York State Office of Court Administration E-Filing Advisory Committee and a frequent contributor to the Suffolk County Bar Association’s monthly publication. In 2018, Ms. Reed received the honor of being named an “Outstanding Woman in Law” by Hofstra University School of Law Center for Children Families and the Law and Long Island Business News. In 2019, she was honored with the Leadership in Law Award by the Long Island Business News and in 2021, for the fifth consecutive year, Minneapolis-based Law & Politics publishers of Super Lawyers magazines announced that she had been named as a Rising Star Attorney.
