Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. Welcomes Tyla Phillip, Jacqueline Fink and Madison Scarfaro as First-Year Associates

Uniondale, NY – September 4, 2024– Ruskin Moscou Faltischek P.C., announced today that Tyla Phillip, Jacqueline Fink and Madison Scarfaro have joined the firm as a first-year associates.

Tyla, Jacqueline, and Madison all previously interned as Summer Associates at the firm. Jacqueline and Madison, who interned in 2023, will rotate through the firm’s six core departments, while Tyla, who interned in both 2022 and 2023, will join the Health Law Department.

Tyla received her Juris Doctor from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. Upon graduation, Tyla received an award For Exemplary Contributions to the Quality of Student Life as well as the Martin Schwartz Award for Excellence in Civil Rights. Tyla was also selected as a 2024 Pro Bono scholar and spent her last semester at the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County in their Juvenile Defense Bureau. During Law school, Tyla was a member of the Trial Advocacy Practice Society as well as the Co-President of the Black Law Students Association. Tyla also served on the board of the Northeast Region of the National Black Law Students Association as the Director of Membership. In addition, Tyla has twice interned with Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. Prior to law school, she served as an AmeriCorps Legal Advocate working with victims of human trafficking at the Boston University School of Law Immigrants’ Rights and Human Trafficking Clinic. Tyla is also an alumna of Boston University where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from the Frederick Pardee School of Global studies.

Madison received her Juris Doctor from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center on Long Island, where she graduated as Salutatorian, Summa Cum Laude, and received the Dean Emeritus Howard A. Glickstein Award for Outstanding Leadership and Overall Academic Excellence. Madison also graduated as a 2024 Pro Bono Scholar, and spent her final semester of law school working with the Federal Defenders of the Eastern District of New York. During law school, Madison served as Business Editor of The Touro Law Review, and her note, UNBOXING THE BOX: A DEEP DIVE INTO SOLITARY CONFINEMENT AND WHEN IT MAY VIOLATE THE FIRST AND EIGHTH AMENDMENTS, will be published in an upcoming volume. Madison also served as President of the Women’s Bar Association, Vice President of the Public Interest Law Organization, Vice President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Organization, Student Liaison to the Suffolk County Women in the Courts Committee, and Student Member of the Theodore Roosevelt Inn of Court. Prior to joining RMF, Madison completed several externships and internships. Madison spent her first summer after law school interning with Roc Nation’s Sports Legal Department. Madison also completed an externship with the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of New York and an internship with Warner Music Group’s Corporate Legal Department. Madison was a pro bono volunteer for New Hour for Women and Children where she went to the Nassau County Correctional Facility and conducted Know Your Rights presentations to women who are incarcerated. She also volunteered for Breaking Barriers, a student-run project dedicated to removing barriers to employment and education for those who were incarcerated and/or convicted of crimes. Madison is also a founding member of Lehigh Valley Anti-Trafficking Awareness Week. She also volunteers for the Michael Ann & Saquon Barkley Hope Foundation. Prior to law school, Madison worked as a Field Director for Marsy’s Law for Pennsylvania, an advocacy campaign and ballot initiative to give crime survivors and victims enforceable constitutional rights in the Pennsylvania constitution. She also served as a Communications Director for a Pennsylvania State Senator.

Jacqueline received her Juris Doctor from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where she received the 2024 Outstanding Law Student Award from the National Association of Women’s Lawyers. During her time at Touro Law, she served as the President of the Federal Bar Association, Law Student Division, Vice President of the Touro Tax Law Society, and Project Director for the International Refugee Assistance Project, Student Division. In addition to her student leadership roles, she worked in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic, where she was an advanced tax preparer and helped low-income and elderly individuals prepare their taxes. Jacqueline was an active member of the Touro Law Review, where she served as a Research Editor and Online Editor. Prior to graduation, she published her Note, “Imminence Should Not Be a Controlling Factor in the Duress Defense in the Context of Battered Women” in Volume 39, Issue 2 of the Law Review. Prior to joining RMF, Jacqueline interned for Magistrate Judge James M. Wicks in the Eastern District of New York, Nassau County Attorney’s Office, and United States Attorney’s Office in both their Criminal and Civil Divisions. Jacqueline was selected as a 2024 Pro Bono Scholar and spent her last semester working with Federal Defenders in Central Islip, where she assisted attorneys in federal criminal matters. Jacqueline is excited to once again work with Magistrate Judge Wicks as his clerk in the Spring of 2025.
