Founding Partner Melvyn B. Ruskin To Be Honored by the Conference of Jewish Organizations of Nassau County

Hon. Alfonse D’Amato and Hon. Eliot Spitzer Also to be Honored at October 14th Gala Event

Uniondale, Long Island, New York, September 27, 2004 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. announced today that founding partner Melvyn B. Ruskin will be honored with the “Distinguished Leadership Award” in Business and Philanthropy by the Conference of Jewish Organizations of Nassau County. The award will be given at the organization’s 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner to be held Thursday, October 14, 2004 at the Woodbury Jewish Center in Woodbury. Former United States Senator Alphonse D’Amato and New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer will also be honored at the event.

In addition to his outstanding professional accomplishments in the field of law, Ruskin has spent a lifetime committed to philanthropic and charitable endeavors. Ruskin is Past Chair of the Business and Professionals Division of Long Island UJA-Federation. He is a member of its Executive Cabinet and is a past recipient of its Man of the Year Award. Ruskin is also on the executive board of the Long Island division of the Jewish National Fund and Chairman-elect of that organization. He is a board member of the Holocaust Memorial & Educational Center of Nassau County and was designated as a Man of the Year by Outreach Project, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. Mr. Ruskin has been a member of the Nassau Citizens Budget Committee, Chairman of the Consider Long Island Professionals First Council, is Past President of the Nassau County Criminal Courts Bar Association and is a member of the Medical Jurisprudence Committee of the New York State Bar Association. In addition, New York State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno recently appointed Ruskin to the Board of Directors of the Health Care Reform Act Charitable Organization. The Board is charged with the responsibility of distributing a $150 million fund to expand access to healthcare for the uninsured, augment or create new health programs and provide education benefiting public health.
