Uniondale, New York, February 23, 2009 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. announced today that senior partner Michael Faltischek has joined the advisory board of the Institute for Energy Law (IEL), an international organization comprised of the world's leading energy companies and attorneys. Founded in 1959, the IEL serves as an important forum for the examination of contemporary issues affecting the energy industry and offers advanced education for energy professionals.
Faltischek, a resident of Rockville Centre, has been integrally involved in the energy industry for years. He founded and is chairman of the law firm's Energy Practice Group, a multi-disciplinary group that focuses on the needs of the energy industry and its ongoing efforts to satisfy the needs of the marketplace.
In 2007, Faltischek helped found the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center on Long Island and serves as Vice Chairman of its Advisory Board. The Center is a hub of energy-related research at Stony Brook University, Brookhaven National Laboratory and other institutions. The Center will not only advance research but will take the lead in fostering promising technologies.
Additionally, Faltischek served from 1995 to 2001 as a trustee of the Long Island Power Authority. He was actively involved in the acquisition of the assets of Long Island Lighting Company and the sale of over $8 billion in bonds to finance the transaction.
A key member of the firm's Corporate and Securities Department, Faltischek also advises entrepreneurs and business enterprises in corporate finance, governance, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning and international business transactions. He is a founding member and Vice Chairman of the Long Island Angel Network, formed to provide a forum for entrepreneurs, investors and businesses to examine investment opportunities in new technologies or business models. He is a board member of the Long Island Association.
