Employers Beware: New Form I-9 Must be Used Starting Today – May 7, 2013

Uniondale, Long Island, New York, April 19, 2011 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. announced today that partner and health law attorney Ellen Kessler has once again been selected as one of Long Island’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business by the publication Long Island Business News. The award recognizes the significant contributions of women professionals in advancing the region’s economy and business communities.

Kessler, a resident of Woodmere, is a two-time honoree, having received this recognition previously in 2001. Along with the other honorees, Kessler will be fêted at a special awards gala on May 19, 2011 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York.

As both an experienced attorney and registered nurse, Kessler brings special expertise to the practice of health law. She counsels clients on mergers, acquisitions and the establishment of professional practices, employment and professional service relationships and regulatory and professional licensure issues under state and federal law. Her clients have included hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health care agencies, management services organizations, physicians, dentists, nurses and other health care practitioners.

Prior to her tenure in the legal profession, Kessler had a distinguished career in nursing and nursing education at St. Barnabas, Bronx Lebanon and Brooklyn Veterans Hospitals.  At law school, Kessler served as a member of the Hofstra Law Review as coordinator of the Law Review’s Topic Research and Development program and as a Moot Court Judge. In 2009, Kessler was installed as a director of the Nassau County Bar Association for a three-year term and is a member of its Hospital & Health Law and Strategic Planning Committees. She is also a member of the New York State Bar Association and its Health Law section. Kessler has authored articles for the New York Law Journal, The CPA Journal and The American Medical Group Association’s Group Practice Journal on a wide range of legal issues.
