Legal Assistant – Litigation and Health Law

Overview:

Premier Long Island law firm, Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C., is seeking a Legal Assistant to join its dynamic Litigation and Health Law departments. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with at least two years of Law Firm experience.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in litigation, health law or related legal services
  • Strong understanding of legal procedures, terminology and formatting various legal documents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently and collaboratively
  • Familiarity with employment or commercial litigation is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized administrative support to multiple attorneys in the Litigation and Health Law departments
  • Draft, transcribe, scan and electronically distribute  legal documents
  • Prepare and file court documents, including traditional and electronic filings
  • Proofread work to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Maintain attorney calendars, coordinate meetings, and schedule appointments such as depositions and mediations
  • Handle incoming calls and greet clients and visitors professionally
  • Organize and maintain accurate and up-to-date physical and digital files
  • Assist with overflow work and provide support across department as needed
  • Accurately enter and track attorney billable time
  • Perform blacklining, document formatting, and scanning

Target Hiring Range: $65,000 – $85,000. Actual compensation will be determined by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, experience, education/training, and relevant skills.
